When we talk about inclusive classrooms, it doesn’t just have to do with race, gender and class. It also has to do with ability.

Some of our students struggle with the sorts of tasks — like reading — that other students of ours might take for granted. Dyslexia is a condition, often undiagnosed, that many of our students struggle with.

While I can see uses for it in formatting worksheets, handouts, notes and documents for students, I need to figure out how to do so without making the student feel singled out.

That is a challenge that one has to grapple with on the path to building a more inclusive classroom.
