There is a Space At The Bottom of The Breath

There is a space at the bottom of the breath,

a little cozy place.

Put a pillow there.

Make up the bed for a beloved visitor,

there in the pause after you exhale.

Then, gently, as if laying a sleeping baby sweetly down in her crib,

welcome all the sacred house guests!

Tuck your grief and sorrow into bed in that little cozy place.

Rest your pain and disappointment on the soft pillow there.

In that pause after you exhale, even anger and fear soften.

Your exhaustion can sleep soundly for a milli-moment

in the space at the bottom of the breath.
