6 Tips to Stay Fit During Holiday Season

Holiday season is here and with this, a lot of “opportunities” to break all of our healthy habits. And no wonder, since there are so many things we need to take care of: buy presents, finish all the important projects at work, make plans for a short winter break, meet with family and friends, attend a lot of parties… And the list goes on.

Starting Thanksgiving and all the way towards New Year’s Eve, it seems that we don’t even have the time to think of a healthy lifestyle, not to mention of actually having one. We eat on the go, we sleep less, we’re always on a rush.

Let’s try to change that. We can balance all the things we need to do during holiday season and our healthy lifestyle which should be uninterrupted.

The first step for a healthy lifestyle is to be organized. And it’s quite easy: use and agenda or a simple notebook and plan you next few days in advance (to-do list, meal plan, shopping list). You will no longer stress yourself with all these details and questions.

We know it. During holiday season, we can hardly make time go to the gym or even for a run. But we can take care of this by exercising in the morning, right after we wake up.

Even if you cook or you go to a party or a restaurant, you can make healthier choices. Try to replace different ingredients and make your meals lighter. For instance, instead of potatoes, you can serve your meat with fresh vegetables.

With all the parties that you’ll attend, it’s inevitable that you’ll serve some drinks. Which if fine for this time of the year, just make sure you also drink a lot of water to stay hydrated and help your body clean itself.

Even if you need to attend a lot of parties, you should remember that sleep is important. Oversleeping during weekend won;t do much help. Try to sleep 7–8 hours each night.

Holiday season is all about spending time with your loved ones. And it’s really nice and a great opportunity, especially with a busy lifestyle. But you should remember that the most important person is yourself. So make time to relax, give yourself a treat, go for a walk, or meditate. You’ll feel energized, happy and calm — just what you need during holiday season.
