Lumio Spotlight: Levi Strauss set for IPO

Backing the Jean pool… Levi Strauss is set to price itself at $6.2 billion as the jeans maker prepares for a return to the public markets, more than 30 years after the company was taken private.

In what is shaping up to be a bumper year for IPOs, Levi Strauss is set to jostle with Uber, Lyft and Airbnb for investors attention. Levi’s have been expanding successfully outside of the US and with Asia now accounting for 16% of sales, the company is targeting expansion across South America and India.

They say Never go back…And Levi’s decision to go back to the stock market comes amid a messy season for apparel retailers. Rapidly changing consumer tastes, competitors streamlined supply-chains and the online battle has left the denim don under pressure. Levi’s pitch to wall street focused on its ability to deliver ‘omnichannel’ retailing — basically the ability to combine a physical and online presence.
